Sally A. Bishop “Memaw”, age 86, of State Line, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Quincy Retirement Village. Born September 22, 1939, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Madalyn G. Gilbert Walck.
Mrs. Bishop was a 1957 graduate of the Greencastle-Antrim Senior High School. She worked at the former J. Schoenaman Company for over 30 years, until it’s closure, she then pursued a career in nursing for several years, as a LPN. She was active member of the First Church Greencastle, where she served as a greeter. Social in nature, Mrs. Bishop loved going to monthly lunches with her High School Classmates, going to church, being with family, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She also enjoyed bowling in her Nellie Fox bowling league, gardening, especially her flower beds, baking her famous apple pies, and studying her ancestral roots.
Surviving are four children, Rodney “Dean” Bishop, Jr., Diana Schuchman (husband Bill), Daniel “Brian” Bishop, and Dana Szaflarski; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Virgiia Harsh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney Bishop, Sr. in 2020, a son, Gerald “Steven” Bishop, a grandson, Michael Schuchman, and two siblings, Carole Gelsinger and Lester Walck.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 11 AM in The Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle, PA, where Pastor Ken Acker will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org .
