Sally Eleanor (Lamport) Morton died June 30, 2023, at home with her husband Steven by her side following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Sally was born on April 4, 1953, to Leonard Willis and Eleanor Lenora (Noy) Lamport. Also known as Sarah when she was young, Sally was raised in Littleton and Townsend with her siblings Rick, Ed, Ken & Kathy.

Sally was active in 4-H and won awards in sewing, weaving, stuffed animals, crocheting, cooking, woodworking, electrical, vegetables, baking, caning a chair and many others.

Sally graduated from North Middlesex Regional High School in 1971. She also graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Burbank Hospital School of Nursing in Fitchburg, the University of the State of New York Regents Program and the University of Massachusetts Graduate School of Nursing. Sally was on the Dean’s List and a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma.

Sally was a board-certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN/BC) and a Nurse Practitioner (NP). She retired from Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after 41 years of dedicated service. Twenty-seven of those years were spent in the Sumner Redstone Burn Unit / Burns & Plastic Surgery Department. She was a member of the Massachusetts Public Fire and Safety Education Curriculum Planning Guidebook committee, the Kids Fair Planning Committee, the Skin & Wound Care Committee, the Handoff Committee and many others. Sally was a creator and author of the MGH Sumner Redstone Burn Center “A Guide for Families”. In addition to numerous continuing education units and certifications, Sally was a preceptor and taught burn and wound care at American Burn Association (ABA) events and to medical personnel from across the United States and other countries. Sally also worked in the MGH Outpatient Burn Clinic and treated patients following The Station night club fire in Rhode Island. She was a member of the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) and went to New York following 9/11 where she treated burn patients at the Cornell Burn Center at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Sally was also a frequent blood and plasma donor and received a Certificate of Appreciation in 1999 for donating 118 units (over 14 gallons!) of blood.

Sally is survived by her husband of 42 years, Steven J. Morton of Groton; their children Mathew Morton and Donna-Sue of Dunstable, Joel Morton and Melanie of Tyngsboro and Heather McGuirk and Sean of Shirley; grandchildren Braydon Miller of Dunstable, Alivia Morton of Tyngsboro, Mark Shea of Shirley, and Lexii DiMeglio and Kiel of Tyngsboro; and their great granddaughter Hunter Joel DiMeglio of Tyngsboro.

Sally is also survived by her siblings Richard Lamport of Derry, NH, Kenneth Lamport and Peggi of Derry, NH, Kathy Donaldson and Giselle Vasialka of Norton, MA and many nieces and nephews. Sally was predeceased by her parents and her brother Edwin Lamport.

Family and Friends will gather to remember Sally on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 9:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. at Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton, immediately followed by a memorial service at 12:00pm.
