Sally Wysong Puckett ObituarySally W. Puckett, age 91 years, of Pylesville, MD died peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Stella Maris in Timonium, MD. She was the loving wife for 54 years of the late Ralph G. Puckett who died on January 13, 2011. She and Ralph met in 7th. grade in 1947 when Darlington and Bel Air Elementary joined Bel Air High School.
Sally was born in Havre de Grace, MD on November 25, 1933, the adopted daughter of the late Benjamin Richard and Carlotta Thomas (Wright) Wysong. A lifelong resident of Harford County, upon graduating from Bel Air High School, Sally earned her Bachelor's degree from the formerly named Mary Washington College (Mary Washington University) in Fredericksburg, VA in 1955, completing her Master's degree at what was then known as Towson State (Towson University). An avid equestrian, when she left for college Sally took her horse, Playmate, with her and showed at horse shows from high school through college. She had a great love for her animals, horses, dogs and cats. Following her marriage to Ralph, her two horses, Playmate and Silver were taken to Ralph's dad's farm. Sally taught physical education for over 32 years in Harford County at North Harford High School, the old Aberdeen Elementary, and Meadowvale Elementary Schools. Sally also taught for three years at Kennard-Dale High School in Fawn Grove, PA. Following her retirement in 1990, she and her late husband began acquiring and selling antiques, and Sally also showed her bloodhounds, with her dog Sniffer very quickly earning his championship papers. Sally said that she kept young by having long conversations with Karlena and Remington Locklear who lovingly called her "Gmom Dinosaur." She will be deeply missed.

Her birth daughter, Valerie, preceded her in death in 1981.
She was also preceded in death by her unofficial "adopted" grandson, Jimmy Locklear in 2022
A graveside funeral service and interment will be held on Wednesday, May 7 at 2 pm at Darlington Cemetery, Shuresville Rd., Darlington, MD where she will be laid to rest with the cremated remains of her three dogs, Buddy, Angel and Emma in her casket.
Pastor Mark Rudd of Trinity Free Will Baptist Church, Darlington will officiate.
