Salvatore Frank Carfaro, Sr.
December 9, 1940 – December 27, 2024
Salvatore Frank Carfaro, 84, of Florida, passed away on Friday, December 27th, 2024, at Somerset Hospital. Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, Sal moved to Florida more than 10 years ago to embrace the next chapter of his life.
With unwavering vision, relentless work ethic, and a passion for his craft, Sal built a thriving ironwork and aluminum railing business, along with a substantial real estate portfolio. Yet his true success was not measured just by business achievements, but by the way he lived his life-with boundless energy, immense determination, and an unshakeable commitment to those he loved.
Sal lived life on his own terms. He tackled every challenge with a smile and an attitude of "My Way." His infectious laugh and warmth made everyone feel like family, and his big heart embraced anyone lucky enough to know him. Sal made lasting friendships everywhere he went, and to those closest to him, he was not just a friend, but a mentor and brother.
A devoted husband, Sal married his soulmate, Gayle, at the age of 20, and together they built a life full of love, joy, and adventure. They were inseparable, partners in every sense. As a father, Sal raised four children, imparting wisdom, humor, and a strong sense of responsibility that has shaped their lives.
Sal is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Gayle; his children, Salvatore Jr. (Ellen), Joseph (Maria), Laurine (Brendan), and Clement (Maureen); his grandchildren, Salvatore III (Dana), Andrea, Christopher (Kaitlyn), Joseph (Meredith), Kevin (Samantha), John (Nicole), Matthew, Julianna, Ryan, Clemente and Michael; his great-grandchildren, Skyler and Salvatore IV; siblings, Carmella, Clement (Annette), Janet (Walter) and Frank (Sharon).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2nd, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue, Fanwood, NJ 07023. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 3rd, at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, 1235 George Street Plainfield, NJ 07062. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Sal's memory.
Sal will be deeply missed, but his legacy of hard work, love, and friendship will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
