Sam Cappola

Samuel R. Cappola, Jr. of Bridgewater, passed away on May 24, 2024, at home peacefully. He was 84.
Samuel was born in Quincy and grew up in Braintree. He graduated from Archbishop Williams High School in 1958. While in school he played baseball and football. As a kid, he loved saltwater fishing. His favorite spot to fish with his dad was Quincy Bay for flounder. Later in his life, he would do the same with his own children and grandchildren.
Early in his adult life, he raised his children in Plymouth. In the seventies, Sam owned the Hair Coup hair salon in Brockton and Kingston, where he worked through the nineties.
He met the love of his life, Karen, through mutual friends. They had set up a blind date for the two of them, and the rest was history. They would marry on June 8th, 1998. They lived in Braintree before retiring to Vegas to enjoy the warm weather. They loved to attend shows and enjoyed hosting family visitors. While out west, Samuel continued to work as a barber at ProCuts. Samuel and Karen moved back to Massachusetts in 2020.
In addition to fishing, Samuel also enjoyed playing the organ, and played it throughout most of his life. He also liked to travel, going on cruises, and especially loved going out to dinner.
Samuel is predeceased by his parents, Samuel R. Cappola, Sr. and Ada (DeNicola), and his sister Loretta Cappola. He is survived by his children, Ronald Cappola and his partner Margaret Donahue of Wareham, Antonio Cappola of Wareham, Peter Cappola and his wife Laura of Plymouth, Nancy Kahler and her partner Joseph Federici of Wareham, and Glenn Lovell of Brockton. Cherished Grandpa of 2 generations of grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday, May 30th from 1PM – 3PM at Chapman Funerals and Cremations, 98 Bedford Street in Bridgewater. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 3PM.
A private burial in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Bridgewater will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Sam may be made to the American Cancer Society.
