Raymond F. "Ray" Collins, Jr. of Raynham passed away at the Residence at Great Woods in Norton on July 23rd, 2025. He was 70 years old.
Ray was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He graduated from Ursuline High School and Choffin Vocational School in 1972, and married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth "Betty" (Cavanaugh) two years later on May 4th, 1974. Ray and Betty lived in Ohio for some time while he worked for the Republic Steel as a welder. Upon the company's closure in the eighties, Ray and his family relocated to Massachusetts. They settled down in Raynham where they raised their children.
Ray worked at Modern Glass & Aluminum as a union glazier, as a resident engineer for the state of Massachusetts, and as a welder and mechanic for Eversource (formerly Boston Edison and N-Star), retiring in 2016.
During his free time, Ray loved scuba diving, earning a PADI master diver certificate and frequented spots in Plymouth, Brant Rock, and Hull. He also loved stock car racing, and favored the Seekonk Speedway. Ray was fortunate to be able to attend several NASCAR races.
Ray will be remembered for his big laugh and the ever-present Dunkin' Donuts, medium regular. He even named his dog Dunkin, a regular companion in his truck. Ray was also a grateful member of AA for close to forty years where he established many long-time friendships. He worked hard and had a reserved demeanor, but he loved having his family close by and always made sure they had everything they needed.
Ray is predeceased by his parents, Raymond Collins, Sr. and Helen (Fineran), and his brother George Collins.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty Collins of Raynham. Devoted father of Tracy Nalley and her husband Shane of Georgia, Dan Collins and his wife Erika of Raynham, Ken Collins and his wife Debralee Collins of Raynham, and Katie Collins of Montana. Cherished grandfather of Logan and Cooper Nalley; Logan, Rae and Ryan Collins; and Shea, Nolan, and Reese Collins. He also leaves behind many beloved brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ray's memory may be sent to Compassionate Care Hospice, 2 Lakeshore Dr, Suite 110 Bridgewater, MA 02324.
