Samantha LaDale Alwan, known as Sammie to her family and friends, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the age of 29. She was born January 9, 1995, in Lubbock to Dale and Laura (Roe) Alwan. Sammie graduated from Dumas High School in 2013. When she moved to Lubbock Sammie began working as a Lab Tech for Covenant Children’s Hospital before obtaining her EMT. In 2023 she graduated from the Fire Academy and was currently working for the Plainview Fire Department while continuing work at Covenant Children’s Hospital.
Sammie was the proud mom of two daughters, Sophia and Sadie. The girls were active in the dance world and Sammie was known as the “muscle”. She was the strong mom who could carry props like no one else! Those who knew her best describe her all wrapped up in the most chaotic, wild, hilarious, real, unapologetic, crazy beautiful package. She had an infectious smile and laugh that could light up a room.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sophia Aiden and Sadie Erin; parents, Dale and Laura Alwan of Lubbock; siblings, Eddie Alwan and wife Rebecca of Katy, Nicholas Alwan of Slaton, Kendra Frapp and husband Justin of Lubbock, and Bethanie Alwan of Dumas; nieces and nephews, Tyler Immel and wife Ella and their daughter Quinn Clover, Mikaela Alwan, Zoey Moore, Wyatt Alwan, Hadyen Alwan, Autumn Frapp, Summer Frapp, and Brielle Morgan. Sammie also leaves behind her boyfriend, Jordan Uptain.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway with the family receiving friends 5:00- 7:00 pm. Services are scheduled for 10:00 am at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church with burial to follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
