Mr. Sammy Gene "Sam" Capps, a resident of Grandview, Tennessee was born on July 28, 1953, in Harriman, TN. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 1, 2025. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a retired mechanic after working at several area shops. Sam loved hunting, fishing, and most importantly, his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His family was the most important thing to him and he loved them dearly. He was a friend to all, especially to those who needed a friend and never met a stranger. He was a hard worker and he taught his family to always do the same as he passed these values on to them. He was preceded in death by his parents: Dorothy Davis Capps & Roger Kendell "Pat" Capps, both of Harriman, TN; sons: Keith and Shane Sutton; his in-laws: Henry & Mertie Givens; brothers-in-law: Eddie Newcomb and Don Devaney; and his sister-in-law: Darlene Neal.

Great Grandchildren: Greyson, Evelyn, Beckham, Merryn, and Hudson Ward of Rockwood, TN; Sawyer, Josie, and Darby Pedigo of Kingston, TN; and Paisley and Aidyn Henderson of Rockwood, TN
Brother: Kenny Capps (Anna) of Romulus, MI
Sisters: Gale Devaney of Kingston, Linda Edmonds (Randy) of Walland,TN; Debby Wolfe (Billy) of Rockwood, TN; and Vicki Palmer (Wayne) of Lenoir City, TN
Brother and Sister-in-laws: Jerry, Wilma, and Leon Neal
and a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 12:00pm-2:00 pm ET at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm ET from the Chapel of Evans Mortuary with Bro. Ronnie Turpin officiating. Committal services and interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, Tennessee. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. Sammy Gene "Sam" Capps.
