It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad, and friend, Sammy "Sam" D. Hoover Jr. Sam departed this life peacefully surround by his loved ones on June 5, 2025 at the age of 96.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025 at Montague Cemetery with Brother Randy Osborn and Pastor Sam Bunnell, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Henrietta.

Sam was born on September 23, 1928 to S.D Sr. and Ethel Ruth "Mub" (Haynes) Hoover in Montague County. A man of great strength and quiet wisdom. Sam was the cornerstone of our family, a great dad whose love and guidance shaped generations. He married the love of his life, Peggy Hanson on June 25, 1948, a union that stood as a testament to enduring love, faith and commitment just shy of 77 beautiful years together.

Sam retired from Halliburton after 28 years working as a field supervisor. Later, he worked as an independent oil field consultant and also a medical delivery technician for 12 more years. Sam was a devout Christian whose faith was the foundation of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Henrietta and volunteered his time to Meals on Wheels Program. Sam lived each day with humility, grace and a giving heart. He touched countless lives with his kindness, generosity, gentle spirit, wisdom, funny jokes and his jigs.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Ron and Sammy; seven sisters; and great-grandson, Cutter Combs.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Peggy; daughter, Kimberly Perkins and husband, Delbert both of Henrietta; daughter-in-law, Janice Hoover of Wichita Falls; three grandchildren, Jennifer Snow and husband, Dale of Nocona, Joseph Combs of Bowie, and Judson Perkins and wife, Brande of Amherst, Texas; eight great-grandchildren, Charli Snow, Avery, Carter, Beau and Bear Combs, Bree and Berkley Perkins, McKenna Booth and Kynleigh Green; a sister, Helen Hightower, a brother, Jody Hoover and wife, Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sam will be missed by his steady presence, warm smile and the quiet strength he gave so freely. Though he has gone home to be with the Lord, his memory and presence will forever live in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Henrietta, 208 S. Graham St. Henrietta, Texas 76365 or Beyond Faith Hospice Foundation, 1725 Kell W. Blvd Wichita Falls, Texas 76301.
