Sammy graduated from Greene Central High School in 1972. After graduation he began operating his family's dairy farm and later began selling real estate for Century21. After leaving the real estate company, he became a real estate developer in Greene County.
He had a close relationship with the Rouse family. Sammy and Sandy Rouse developed a close friendship resulting in many afternoons spent at the farm before Sandy died. After Sandy's death, Sammy would visit Wayne at Rouse Mortuary, where he began to work for Wayne as a transporter. He began visiting the Rouse farm after retirement and developed a relationship with Steve Rouse.
He also had very close friends, Danny and Myra Grant. Danny and Sammy spent a lot of time together these last years of Sammy's life. Danny and Myra also served as caretakers for Sammy during this last year. Sammy, Danny, and Myra shared a love for Mercedes sports cars.
In keeping with Sammy's wishes, no formal services will be held.
