Samuel Kenton Hatch, age 37, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 21, 2025, following a hard-fought battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Sam was born June 20, 1987, weighing 11lb. 6oz. to Gary and Debbie Hatch of Lancaster, Ohio. Sam was a delightful baby and child, always happy, and trying to make someone laugh with his sometimes goofy behavior and grin.
At age 5 Sam was diagnosed with childhood cancer, a stage 3 Wilms tumor, requiring him to undergo radiation treatments and chemotherapy. Throughout his treatment he laughed and smiled. He got great at games like Connect 4, and Crocodile Dentist, and enjoyed beating staff, family and visitors. Sam earned the title of "King George", due to the amount attention he got while he was ill.
In elementary school Sam participated in the Lancaster Fairfield Youth Choir, traveling to Belgium, Chicago, and many choral festivals. He was often found rollerblading, skateboarding, and doing other bicycle tricks scaring his mom out of her wits.
Sam attended Fairfield Union Local Schools and graduated in 2006. While there he participated in cross country, band, and the Fairfield Union Assembly Singers. It was there that he developed his love of art, design and photography.
Sam attended Columbus College of Art and Design, studying graphic design, but soon found his real interest was in photography. As a young adult, Sam continued his interest in the arts, working for Blue Label Printing, then designing labels for multiple Ohio businesses and running his own photography business.
Sam developed a passion for fishing, hiking, rock climbing and cycling. As a result of his cycling passion, he began working for Trek bicycle, in Westerville. Sam loved working for Trek and was a service manager and a District service manager. Sam remained with Trek until his recent illness prohibited him from working.
While eating at the Olive Garden, Sam met the love of his life Sarah Searle whom he married in 2014. Together they have three beautiful daughters, Grace, Hazel, and Amelia. Sam was passionate about his family and home, becoming the ultimate family man. His daughters will miss their daddy-daughter dates.
Sam is survived by his loving wife and recent caregiver, Sarah Hatch; daughters, Grace, Hazel and Amelia-who adored their daddy; parents, Gary and Debbie Hatch; siblings, Nicholas (Heather) Hatch, Isaac ( Tiffany) Hatch, and Hannah (Luke) Mullins; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kent and Gina Searle; brother in law, Jonathan ( Brynn Bowden) Searle; nine nieces and nephews; grandmother, Ginnie Hatch; and grandfather, Ralph Hatch. Sam was preceded in death by grandparents, George and Patricia Johnson.
Sam will be greatly missed. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 5:00pm-8:00pm and on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 11:00am-12:00pm at Victory Hill Church, 4000 Coonpath Road NW, Carroll, Ohio 43112. Funeral Service to follow on Thursday at 12:00pm. Burial at Carroll Cemetery.
