Samuel Matulavich Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 14, 2025.
Sam Matulavich, 83, passed away August 3rd at the Canton Christian Home, leaving behind his loving and devoted wife, Barbara, brothers Pete (Zirka), Paul (Cindy), Mike (Pat), three step daughters, and numerous nephews and nieces. Sam graduated from Akron South in 1960 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy where he was an aviation mechanic. Returning to civilian life, he worked as a fireman at Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, and later as a custodian and bus driver at Jackson Township Schools. Sam was an exceptional craftsman and loved wood-working and carving. Afflicted with Parkinson's in his later years, Sam is now in a better place where he is young and healthy, and behind the wheel of the first sports car he ever owned, a '67 Corvette convertible, driving along in golden light, on a never-ending road trip. Sam's ashes will be interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio following a military ceremony scheduled for August 19th at 2:15 p.m. All who knew Sam are welcome to attend.
