Samuel Lee Mullins, age 67, of Mount Sterling, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cholangiocarcinoma. Born on June 4th, 1957, he was the beloved son of the late Joseph Mullins and Norma Jean Kise and stepson of the late Elsie Brown.
He was a man who valued his roots, his work, and above all, his family. Sam spent most of his early years farming to help support his family by working the land with strength and determination. He held positions at Anderson Aluminum, Amtecko Industries, and Allstate Exteriors from where he eventually retired in 2023.
Sam found the gift of a lifelong love in his wife Judy Mullins. The couple shared 48 years filled with devotion, laughter, and a lifetime of memories. By his side was also his moody yet loyal cat Rosie, who was his constant companion and sidekick. Sam created beautiful memories with his family and loved ones. Sam loved the outdoors-hunting with his brother Joe Bob, fishing, and spending cherished time at his brother-in-law's cabin. Sam filled his children with love and precious memories. He took pride in the restoration of a 1979 Chevy Malibu along with his son Jimmy. Among Jimmy's favorite memories is the day his dad picked him up from school and took him to the bike shop to get his bike fixed so he could ride again. Nikki fondly remembers the day her dad taught her to drive a standard, a rite of passage filled with patience, laughter, and encouragement. Amanda will always treasure how he never came home without a stuffed animal he won for her from the claw machines, his special way of showing he was thinking of her. There were so many quiet ways that Sam showed his love.
Sam also had a deep passion for gardening and took great pride in keeping his yard immaculate. His fun-loving spirit came alive on the dance floor, where he was known for his goofy dance moves and lighting up the room whenever "Let's Do the Twist" played. He was always the life of the party, bringing laughter, energy, and magnetic presence wherever he went.
Sam was a proud member of the American Legion Post 417 in Mount Sterling, Ohio.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; children Nikki (Shawn) Mayabb, Jimmy (Joy) Mullins, and Amanda (Timothy) Russell; grandchildren Chandler, Tessa, Kaleigh, Olivia, Luke (aka George), Magnolia, Maddison, Marissa, and Gracie; along with great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his siblings: Gloria, Charles, Violet, Joe, Crystal, Vicky, Cindy, Wendy, Frankie, and Rudy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph; mother, Norma Jean; stepmother, Elsie; sister, Candy; brother, Randy; brother-in-laws and partners in crime, Gary and Tim.
Sam will be remembered for his hard work, sense of humor, and the love he poured into his family. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and unforgettable memories.
Funeral services will be held at Lynch Family Funeral Home in London, Ohio, on May 19, 2025. Visitation hours will be held from 3:00pm-5:30pm with services immediately following.
