Samuel Nixon passed away peacefully on the morning of August 7, 2025. Sam was born in the Southside of Pittsburgh on July 21, 1929. His parents, Milos and Milica, had recently immigrated from Yugoslavia. They moved to Bethel Park when he was thirteen where he graduated in 1948 after an active high school career where he was a standout halfback on the football team. Sam also served in the Army during the Korean War. He married his wife of over 73 years, Jean Skillin on December 22, 1951. Sam was a very active, ambitious person. He built a home for his parents in 1954 and then the home in which he and Jean raised their three boys in 1959. He also made furniture and could fix just about anything. Sam was employed by Bell Telephone for thirty years as a Sales Manager. His family was everything to him. He followed his boys in all their activities and sports. Upon retiring he purchased and managed three Hallmark card stores for the next twenty years. He and Jean traveled on twelve cruises from Alaska to the Mediterranean Sea. Sam resided at Chartiers Bend in South Fayette Township since 2019 and enjoyed life to the fullest! Sometimes he was a little bit of a "diamond in the rough" with a great sense of humor. He leaves his wife, Jean and sons Don (Jane), Keith (Susan) and Mark (Paulette), grandchildren Justin, Austyn, Andrew, Christopher, Caroline, Emily and great grandchildren Eloise, Claire, Adam, Ezekiel, Aldrin, Atlas and Sadie. Sam also leaves a legacy of generosity that took many forms over many years. He will be missed by all. Arrangements by Beinhauer Funeral Home. Family and friends welcome on Wednesday, August 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. At 2828 Washington Rd., McMurray, PA 15317, 724-941-3211. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel immediately following.
