Cumberland, MD – Samuel "Sam" Lee Noel, Jr., 87, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Devlin Manor Health Care Center.
Born November 8, 1936, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Noel was the son of the late Samuel Lee Noel, Sr. and Ruth Ellen (Howdyshell) Noel. He was also preceded in death by his sister: Janet Saathoff; and was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Sam was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1955, and also graduated from Potomac State University, Allegany College of Maryland, and Frederick Community College. He was a veteran of the United States Army 101st Airborne and retired from East Alcoa (now Alcoa) Aluminum. Sam attended Central Assembly of God and was a member of the American Legion Post #13.
Sam is survived by his wife of 30 years: Patricia "Patty" Noel; his son: Michael Noel and wife, Glenetta; a brother-in-law: Royce Saathoff; his granddaughter: Susan Stallings; his great grandchildren: Christoper Noel and Ava Stallings; and several nieces and nephews.
A committal service will be conducted at the Maryland Veterans' Cemetery at Rocky Gap on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with Chaplain Paul Demers officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Central Assembly of God 2020 Bedford St. Cumberland, MD or to UPMC-Home Hospice 1050 West Industrial Blvd, Suite 19, Cumberland, MD 21502-0539.
