Samuel Smith, age 70, of Belle Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Samuel was born on October 7, 1954, to the late Virginia Williams in West Memphis, Arkansas. Born into a Christian family, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and became an ordained deacon. He was the seventh child out of ten siblings.

At the age of 15, he and his family moved from West Memphis, Arkansas to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Samuel attended South Hills High School and graduated in the class of '73. At the age of 19, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps as a Private. During his 10 year career as a Marine, he became a military policeman, boxer, black belt in karate, and was stationed at Quantico and in the Philippines. After leaving the military, he came back to Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, a city bordering Pittsburgh, where he purchased his first home and had three children; Nicole Smith born in 1985, Samuel Smith II born in 1990, and Jacob Smith born in 1994. While raising his three children, Samuel worked as a full-time employee for Veteran Affairs and various mills throughout Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. On October 11, 2005, he married Charmayne D. Clements, whom he remained married to for 20 years, until God called him home.

He will be most remembered for his dedication to his family and his love for teaching and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, as well as being extremely knowledgeable of the Bible and Christian faith.

Samuel is survived by his wife, Charmayne D. (Clements) Smith, three children, Nicole Smith, Samuel Smith II (Sara Smith), and Jacob Smith, grandchildren, four sisters, and a whole host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, July, 21st, from 10 a.m. until time of Home Going Service at 11:30 a.m. in Middletown Road Baptist Church, 2660 Middletown Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15205. Burial will take place on Tuesday, July 22nd, at 1:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, where full military honors will be rendered.
