Samuel James Tuttle, affectionately known as "Sam", passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at his residence. He was surrounded by his family and will be greatly missed.
He was born in Milton, Florida and lived in many cities with his military family. In 1975, his family established their residence in Jacksonville and he graduated in 1986 from Andrew Jackson High School. Following graduation, Sam enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1986 – 1992. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard on June 8, 1992 in Seattle, WA and served until retirement discharge on August 31, 2009 in Key West, FL. He attained the rank of Machinery Technician Chief Petty Officer. Sam loved to hunt, fish, watch NASCAR and woodworking. He loved football, especially the Jacksonville Jaguars. Sam had a close family and he loved to spend time with them.
Preceded in death by his grandparents: Sam & Aileen Hall and Gertrude & Harold Tuttle.
Surviving family include his wife, Linda Tuttle; 4 children: Autumn (Ernest) Menard, Forrest Stene, Samantha (Warren) Marlowe and Hayley Tuttle; parents: Jim & Sheryl Tuttle; 1 sister: Joy (Kerry) Wagner; 4 grandchildren: Tristan Davis, Rosalyn Menard, Matthew Marlowe and Annabelle Marlowe and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
Celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Peeples Funeral Home, 14165 N. Main Street.
His family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Burial with U.S. Coast Guard Honors will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday at Jacksonville National Cemetery, located at 4083 Lannie Road.
