Sandra Calvert Hansen

Sandra (Sandy) Calvert of Boone, Iowa passed away July 6, 2025 at home surrounded by her family.

Sandy was born April 29, 1946 to Elmer and Martha Calvert in Bayard, Iowa. Sandy was a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, niece and cousin. She touched many lives with her humorous character. She was an amazing sister, mother, grandma, friend and had an empathetic heart.

Sandy received her GED. In the early 1980's she got her CDL and became a truck driver. Many years later, Sandy decided to take a break from truck driving and became a CNA, helping people, which she loved doing. Sandy never lost her love for truck driving, and decided that was where her heart was. She returned to truck driving again until she retired due to health issues.

Sandy was passionate about music. She loved country music. George Straight was her favorite singer and with that came her favorite movie of Pure Country. Sandy was a die-hard Iowa Hawkeye fan. Her favorite sport was watching the Iowa Hawkeye football team.

Sandy had many hobbies. Camping was the hobby she enjoyed doing every year. She had the tradition of always going camping the weekend of her birthday. She loved flowers. You could always find her in the garden taking care of her flowers. Sandy was a family person. She loved getting together and having family reunions. In Sandy's down time she loved to knit. She also had a passion for hummingbirds and ladybugs. Sandy had a cat named Hawkeye that she very much adored. Hawkeye was her snuggle buddy.

Sandy is survived by her children: Brenda (Mike) Clouse, Wanda (John) Smith, Roger (Rena) Jackson, and Doug Stevens; brothers: Jerry (Trudy) Calvert and Kelly (Katy) Calvert; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Nathan) Parkhill, Curtis Clouse, Heather (Rebecca) Arman, Shane Stephenson, Mitch Pate, and Cody Pate; great-grandchildren: Skyler Jackson, Austin Ireland, Levi Parkhill, Gage, Skyer, Kyler and Ruby Stephenson, Khloe and Vincent Walker, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sandy was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy Calvert and Jerry Lee Calvert; sister-in-law, Tammy Calvert; grandchildren: Alicia Walker and Ross Clouse; and great grandchild, Jackson Parkhill.

Sandy will be missed by everyone she came in contact with. Her love will continue on with her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
