Mrs. Sandra Mae "Sandy" Chismarick, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at Arcadia Care in
Morris, IL, due to liver failure. Born on May 25, 1946, at Morris Hospital to Edward and Helen Hall, Sandy was a lifelong resident of Morris, graduating from Morris Community High School.
Sandy was known for her selfless nature and the loving care she devoted to her family and friends. Working at the roller rink in 1960 is where she met her husband of 49 years, Kenneth Chismarick. Their life, together, was a testament to the idea that the simplest things bring the greatest joy. Sandy's favorite pastimes included playing bingo, solitaire, and mahjong; her competitive spirit was always friendly but fierce. Her hands were rarely still, as she was frequently found crocheting beautiful pieces that she would generously gift to others. Sandy also cherished her quiet time, enjoying the heartwarming stories on the Hallmark channel and the thrill of the game show network. She found great pleasure in cooking and baking. Her sweet tea, chicken n' dumplings, and cinnamon jello were just some of her family favorites.
Sandy's legacy is carried on by her family: her sisters, Linda Poppleton and Joyce Lucas; her children, James (Catherine) Chismarick, Shelley (Luis) Baeza, and Thomas (Nicole) Chismarick Sr.; her grandchildren, Dustin (Amber) Chismarick, Brandon Rader, Danielle (Mark) Ecklor, and Thomas Chismarick Jr. Sandy was a guiding light in their lives, always present with a listening ear, gentle guidance, and an open heart.
Those who knew Sandy were touched by her selflessness. Sandy's absence will leave a void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we bid farewell to Sandy, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. Sandy's legacy is not one of material possessions, but one of precious moments, shared experiences, and the countless lives she enriched through her simple acts of love.
Sandy taught us the importance of cherishing each day, finding happiness in the small things, and above all, loving unconditionally. As we reflect on her life, we are reminded of the profound impact one person can have by simply being present and caring for others. Sandy's memory will continue to be a guiding light for her family and friends, a reminder to live with kindness and selflessness. In honor of Sandy's memory, let us hold our loved ones a little closer, reach out to friends old and new, and spread kindness in our daily lives. Sandra Mae Chismarick will be dearly missed, but the love she shared will resonate for generations to come.
She is preceded in death by her sweet rescue dog (Apollo), loving husband (Kenneth), a granddaughter (Laney Chismarick) and her parents (Edward & Helen).
The family would like to especially thank the nurses at Morris Hospital on 2-South, Vicky and Char with Arcadia Care, and Lightways Hospice for their compassionate and empathetic care.
Visitation will be held on May 19th, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00pm with a celebration of life at 6:00 pm at UC Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in
Morris, IL. The family has elected for a private burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
