Sandra (Kubilnick) Florkowski, 74, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the beloved of Lester Florkowski for 54 wonderful years.
Born on July 18, 1950, in New Britain, CT, Sandy was the daughter of the late Anthony and Lillian (Prosperi) Kubilnick. Sandy’s life was enriched by her work as a florist, owning and operating Just Balloons & Flowers until her retirement.
Sandy brought joy to children and adults alike in her role as “Miss Pickles,” a clown character she lovingly created. Her ability to bring laughter and happiness to those around her showcased the warmth of her spirit.
Sandy was devoted to her family, and her home was filled with love and a multitude of animals. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will endure in the hearts of her loved ones.
In addition to her devoted husband, Lester, Sandy is survived by their son, John Florkowski of Torrington, CT; their daughter, Heather Florkowski, and her fiancé, Chris Berthiaume, of Goshen, CT; and her sister, Cathy Gustafison of Florida. She is also remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Michael Kubilnick.
Funeral services for Sandra will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. The cortege will leave at 9:45 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, located at 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT, proceeding to St. Thomas Church (Saint Louis de Montford Parish), 71 North St., Goshen, CT 06756, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to gather at Cook Funeral Home on Tuesday morning, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
