Sandra Friedman

Sandra "Sandy" Friedman (nee Bloness), 82, of East Brunswick, N.J., passed away on Friday, Nov 24, 2023.
Sandy was born in New York, NY, to Rubin and Esta Bloness, grew up in Brooklyn, graduating Erasmus High School (Barbra Streisand fortuitous to attend with Sandy). Sandy settled in East Brunswick, NJ, and was a congregant of Congregation Anshe Emeth in South River. She generously volunteered her time to Brandeis, serving as President of Middlesex chapter, as well as named a "Women of Valor" Eshet Chayil for her exemplary contribution, served on her Condominium Board, utilizing her passion, pragmatism, and good business sense while working with the community, as well as donating time to many other endeavors. She enjoyed traveling to destinations all over the world, as well as spending time in Florida. She was an avid investor, and much enjoyed "beating the market". Sandy could light up the room, sharing stories, and life events with her many friends, whether just talking, or ruthlessly playing canasta, and mah jongg (one bam, two dot, three crack) to victory.
However Sandy's greatest joy came when she was surrounded by the family that she adored, coordinating the energized holidays.
Sandy was predeceased by her loving husband, Dr. Marvin I. Friedman of 39 years in 2012.
Sandy is survived by her: significant other, Jay Hamelburg, and loving mother to Barry Friedman of Somerville, NJ, Lonnie Robinson of Morristown, NJ, Steven (Beth) Robinson of Marlboro, NJ, Marla Zucker of Bedminster, NJ, and Amy Herrick of the improving Seaside Heights, NJ. She was the loving sister to Leonard and Jeanette Bloness of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.; grandmother to 10 adoring grandchildren, Seth and Rachael Robinson, Parker and Carly Friedman, Eric and Alex Robinson, Jake and Sydney Herrick, Aidan and Emma Zucker, and a loyal friend to many.
Donations in Sandy's name may be made to The Middlesex Chapter, Brandeis National Committee's Program on Sustaining The Mind (to support neurological and neurodegenerative diseases).
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at 10:45 am, at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, under the direction of MOUNT SINAI MEMORIAL CHAPELS, East Brunswick. For directions, please visit our "Services" page.
