Sandra Hornick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory - Kingman on Dec. 9, 2025.
Sandra June "Junie" Hornick-beloved wife, mother, Granny, sister, and friend-passed away into the waiting arms of her loved ones who went before her on November 9, 2025, at the age of 83.

Sandra was born on May 11, 1942 in Henryetta, Oklahoma, the very first child of Patricia Yvonne Jenkins Higbee and Robert Alva Higbee III. Being the oldest of four, she was very close with her siblings Barbara, Robert & Bradley, carrying that same fierce, quiet caring her whole life. She grew up in Elkins, West Virginia and raised her family with husband Richard Dee Hornick in Greensboro, North Carolina before settling in Kingman, Arizona in 1976.

She embraced her Potawatomi heritage passed down from her father and was enrolled with the Potawatomi Citizen Nation Tribal Roll. This was passed down to her sons, her grandchildren, and will end with her great grandchildren.

What truly lit her up, though, was making everyone around her feel loved. She had this gift: no matter how bad your day was, five minutes with Sandra and your heart felt lighter. Sandra kept in touch with cousins, childhood friends, neighbors, even people she hadn't seen in forty years-cards with handwritten notes, long phone calls, and through Facebook messages. She would take in family and friends when they needed help, always a helping hand when needed.

Sandra really loved animals ever since she was little. She shared stories of finding frogs at the creek with her sister. Over the years she has taken care of cats, her dog Mandy, horses, even pigeons-each and every one of them were family to her. Her kitties were her little shadows, curling up on her lap while she read or watched TV.

She leaves behind the love of her life, Richard; her sons Kerry and Matthew; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends who were a part of her life.

A private viewing was scheduled at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home on Friday December 5, 2025 at 3 pm and service was held at Mountain View Cemetery on Saturday December 6, 2025 at 11 am.
