Sandra Mongold Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc. - Fort Ashby on Nov. 26, 2023.
Sandra Kay Mongold, 73, of Fort Ashby, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Potomac Valley Hospital.
Born on October 1, 1950, in Cumberland, to the late William and Betty (Knippenberg) Adams, Sandra was raised from a very young age throughout her life by the late Esther and Albert Perry. She radiated light and warmth, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her friends and family. She was also preceded in death by her sister Rose Adams.
Sandra graduated from Fort Hill High School and worked at Gee Bee, Claytons and Kings department stores as a salesclerk. She took pride in being featured as a catalog model. She then devoted her life to her family as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her legacy is one of kindness, generosity, compassion, and a contagious sense of humor.
She found joy in the companionship of her beloved dog Molly, and loved reading, listening to music, and painting.
Sandra is survived by her children, Dena Sperry and husband Glenn, and R. Brian Mongold and wife Amy; grandchildren, Will Smith, Devan Erichsen and wife Yuriko, and Darien Deetz; great-grandsons, Silas Smith, and Trea Erichsen; siblings, Patrick Adams, Michael Adams, and Glenna Koontz. The family extends special thanks to the caregivers who provided comfort and support throughout the years.
In honoring Sandra's vibrant spirit, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, friends consider celebrating her love for life with a banana split or a favorite dessert. This sweet gesture pays homage to the laughter, generosity, and the sweetness that defined Sandra's essence.
Friends are invited to pay their respects and share memories at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Fort Ashby, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 5-7 PM.
Sandra's legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched-a testament to a life well-lived and love generously given. May her memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were privileged to know her.
