Sandra Jenkins Ovitt

Sandra Jenkins Ovitt, cherished mother, sister, wife, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep this past Sunday morning. She was 75 years old.

Born in the rolling hills of West Virginia, Sandra was a 1968 graduate of Oxon Hill High School in suburban Maryland. She then received her undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University's school of dental hygiene, completing her education with highest honors. While at ODU, she would meet her husband of many years, the late Harry C. Ovitt, Jr.. Despite her educational and professional successes, Sandra's greatest satisfaction in life was her ultimate full-time role as mother and homemaker.

The indefatigable Ms. Ovitt was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Ovitt Jr. of Fredericksburg, her father, John W. Jenkins Sr, her mother, Mary Jane Green, and her brother John W. Jenkins Jr.. She is survived by her brother David Jenkins of Arizona; her sons, Daniel J. Ovitt of Fredericksburg and Brandon J. Ovitt of Mechanicsville and his wife Lauren, and her daughter Erin of Fredericksburg and her husband Matt; as well as her beloved grandchildren Adelynn, Harrison, Riley, and Elijah, and her nephews Michael and Steven and niece Jennifer...and of course her cherished Beagle mix, Mia.

A viewing will take place at Calvary Chapel of Fredericksburg on Thursday, July 17 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will also be held at Calvary at 10:30 on Friday with committal at Sunset Gardens afterward. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation instead.

"Do not stand at my grave and weep, for I am not there."

We will weep plenty of other places, though, Mom. We miss you terribly.
