Sandra J. Petrelli (Sandi) of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at the age of 83. She was born in Albany, NY on July 7, 1941, to parents Ernest and Loretta (Marsolais) Chamberlain.
She lived most of her life in Camden County, NJ where she graduated from Camden Catholic High School and worked for Bell Telephone, PB Cosmetology School, and The Ritz Theatre. She was very active in her church and was also an avid singer. She sang in many church groups throughout her life as well as at weddings and funerals. Loved ones remember her as a wonderful cook famous for her meatballs, pineapple bread, crêpes and homemade pizzelles. But she was undoubtedly happiest when caring for others, particularly children. After her own children were grown, she was a dedicated caregiver for grandchildren, grandnieces, grandnephews, and neighbors who all relished their adventures with her. Known for her loving and compassionate heart, she became the adopted Aunt of many who knew her. “Aunt Sandi” was always there for anyone who needed a comforting hug, encouraging word, or friend to cry with. After her oldest son Joe died in 2007, she became a passionate advocate for organ donation, organizing benefits and raising money on behalf of the Gift of Life Family House in Philadelphia, PA.
A devoted wife and mother, Sandra married Michael Petrelli on May 6, 1974; he survives. She is also survived by sons, Michael (Jennifer) Petrelli, Christopher (Nora) Petrelli; daughter-in-law, Dianne Bottino; grandchildren Joseph (Jennifer) Bottino III, Megan Bottino, Marlowe Petrelli, Dylan Petrelli, and Emalyn Petrelli; and great-grandson, Joseph Bottino IV.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Joseph Bottino II; siblings Joan Costello and Elizabeth Tanski; and niece Colleen Hogan.
