Sandra Roy

Sandy Hale Roy, 80, widow of Cleetis Roy, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023 at UK Medical Center in Lexington. She was born March 15, 1943 in Oneida, TN to the late Chester Lee & Suzie Coleman Taylor. A beloved fixture of the Powell County community, she lived a very full life as a teacher, dietician, seamstress, truck driver, referee, realtor, real estate broker, and nurse. Survivors include: daughter Jodie (Mark) Brandenburg; son Johnny (Stephanie) Hale; grandchildren Madeline Brandenburg, Jacob Brandenburg, Kyle (Beth) Roy, David Roy, Lyssa (Zack) Renk, Adam (Erin) Roy, & Taylor Roy; step-son Tim (Carie) Roy); sisters-in-law Susan Taylor & Vicki Taylor; special companion Gloyd Lee; and Becky Eagan, who was like a daughter. She was preceded in death by husband Cleetis Roy, parents Chester & Suzie Taylor, brother Robert Taylor and step-son Jeff Roy. Funeral services will be conducted at 1PM on Thursday, July 6 at Wells Funeral Home in Stanton with Bro. Brad Epperson officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 5 at the funeral home beginning at 4PM for family & 5PM for friends. Burial at Stonegate Cemetery directly following the funeral with Kyle Roy, Rob Taylor, Mark Brandenburg, Jacob Brandenburg, Tyler Smith, & John Parks serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Powell County Health Department employees, Willie Brewer, C.B. Martin, the Bruen's Gang, Hillbilly Flywheelers, Smokehouse & General Store Kids, & Ryan Thacker. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to Hospice East & Palliative Care Partners.
