Sara P. Lowndes was born Aug 22, 1938 in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico.
Married to Joseph A Lowndes Sr June 29, 1960, they came close to 60 years of married before Grandpa graduated to heaven.
She is survived by her brother Jose Palomares, Sr. (wife Rita), and her sister Clementina Lopez (husband Mario), four adult children, Joseph A Lowndes Jr (wife Cici), John J Lowndes Sr (wife Heidi), Sarah C Bails (husband James) and Stella R Lowndes. She loved her ten grandchildren John J Lowndes Jr (Loni) Joseph B Lowndes, Sara M Lowndes, Samuel E Elias (Bianca), Daniel J Elias (Adriana), Saralyn J Elias (Dave Krabill), Jamie G Bails, Joshua C Bails, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Forget us! Her greatest joys were her great grandchildren: John III, Lily, and Layla, Ivy, Shelby, Jack, and Eden.
Although from humble beginnings, she always had a song in her heart, and a smile on her face. She told us stories of working in the cotton fields in her early childhood, skipping school to go pick water melon, sugar beets, or just go talk to her senior citizen neighbors. She proudly remembers being able to pick cotton as fast as any guy on the field and being able to race horses with her brothers.
As the eldest daughter, she was a second mother to her younger brothers and sisters, whom she loved dearly. She lived life to the full, teaching us to love God, work hard, and ALWAYS CALL HOME IF YOU WERE GONNA BE LATE!!
She came to know Jesus at the age of eighteen and continued lifting Him as Lord and Savior till her final day. She loved her church family just as much if not more, and held steadfastly to her Bible.
She was a homemaker provided childcare for children for over 40 years. Many of those children still remember her for the love and laughter and homemade tortillas with butter. Food and family-both gifts from God.
Our legacy will forever be etched by this woman we called mom, grandma, sister, and friend. But everyone who knew her intimately will attest that her greatest role this side of eternity was prayer warrior. Her final words were a prayer lifted up for her children. That was her final gift and assignment, our greatest mantle to carry on.
