Sara Lee Swango, 72, of Bloomington, IN went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 26, 2025, after dying peacefully surrounded by many loved ones. Sara is survived by her son, Michael (Lisa) Dockery, her grandson, Ian Dockery and 3 of her 4 siblings, Beth Swango, Linnie (Luke) Howard and Brent Swango. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Sara was predeceased by her parents Lloyd L. and Joyce D. Swango, her brother Howard (Marietta) Swango and two nephews, Patrick Swango and Toby Finley.
Sara is a 1970 graduate of Smithville High School, where she was a member of all-state choir and had prominent roles in numerous stage productions. In 1972 Sara graduated from Indiana Vocational Technical College where she earned her LPN license. She practiced as an LPN at Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, IN and in several cities in the Port St. Lucie area of Florida. Sara also earned a Bachelor's degree in Theatre and Drama from Indiana University, and spent many years in Central Florida directing and starring in numerous plays in local theatre. She received the 1997 Best Director Award for her work on Butterflies are Free at the St. Lucie Community Theatre.
The immediate family will celebrate Sara's life in a private service at a later date.
