Sarah Nicole Carlson, age 25, Port Orchard, WA, passed away from an unexpected and massive stroke on April 8th at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma, WA. She was born on February 4, 2000 in Bremerton, WA to Susan and Brian Carlson. Sarah was a graduate of Western Washington University in 2022 with BA in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She graduated from Washington State University in 2024 with a Masters in Speech and Language Pathology. She loved working as a SLP in the South Kitsap School District at Olalla Elementary. She was passionate about helping kids gain skills and confidence and loved every single unique child who came her way. Sarah, whose name literally means princess of the people, was full of spice from the moment she was born. As a young child, she loved her time amongst the cul de sac kids in Poulsbo. She thought of herself as one of the leaders of the pack! As a teen, she enjoyed being a volleyball teammate and a member of her video production crew at South Kitsap High School. In her twenties she enjoyed reading, playing cozy video games on her Nintendo Switch, doing puzzles, and watching Reality TV. She was fiercely independent and most recently enjoyed her time as a roommate to her sister, Ashley. Sarah had a warm smile, an infectious laugh, and an abundance of personality.
Sarah is survived by her parents, Susan and Brian, her sister, Ashley, her dog Lily, and very beloved cat, Oliver. Sarah was the cherished grandchild of Ron and Diana Gates and Al and Barbara Vadset. She also leaves behind aunts, uncles and cousins who adored her dearly. Among them are Kristi, Peter, and Audrey Coronado as well as Ken and Tedre Carlson along with Kris Carlson and Kelsie Miller. Sarah held a special bond with her friends Katherine Wittman, Hannah Anderson, Madison Jackson and many more. Her family is thankful for all of the people who supported and loved her. A memorial service will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard on Saturday, May 24th at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following charities:
