In Loving Memory of Sarah Marie Hreha
Sarah Hreha, beloved wife, and devoted mother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the evening of August 15, 2024 at the age of 91. She will be deeply missed by her sons Dr. Jeffery Hreha of Sedona and son Kenneth Hreha of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Plus her 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. As well as countless others whose lives were touched by Sarah where-ever she went.
Sarah was born in Homestead, Pennsylvania, across the river from the mighty steel town of Pittsburgh, PA in 1933; One of 6 sisters who have all since preceded her in death. She attended the local public schools after which she worked a clerical job with Harveson-Walker of Pittsburgh until marriage.
She met her husband, Paul, in 1951 when she went to buy some meat from a local corner grocery where he worked at the time as a butcher. They were married in 1953 and remained together until his death in 2016. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, mutual trust, and happiness always keeping their faith and trust in Jesus and doing their best to live by His examples and teachings.
Sarah was a dedicated wife and a loving and caring full time mother. She always went above and beyond to make sure her family was taken care of and surrounded by love and a sense of security. A love that carried on outside of the home as well in her community. She was a true friend, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer support to those in need.
In 1963 the family moved to Park Forest, Illinois, just outside of Chicago, where husband Paul had taken a job as Plant Manager for what was destined to become the largest tubing fabrication mill in the United States. There she raised her 2 sons to be honest, responsible and caring towards their wives and children by setting an excellent example of what it means to be a genuine Godly parent. A tradition the 2 sons carry on to this very day and have passed on to their own children.
Following husband Paul's retirement in 1993, and with the sons both on their own, Sarah and Paul moved out of Park Forest and retired to Silver Lake, Michigan where the local town folks still fondly remember her to this very day.
However, as much as they both loved Silver Lake and their many friends from there, the winter weather proved to be too much of a challenge to them as they entered into their golden years. So in 2012 they moved to Cottonwood, Arizona to be close to their son Jeffery and his family. (Not to mention that Arizona was always one of husband Paul's favorite places following his Army service down at Fort Huachuca in southern Arizona !)
Sarah Hreha's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and unwavering faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, generosity, and service to others. May her memory continue to inspire and uplift those who knew and loved her.
