Deborah Hreha Obituary
Deborah L. Hreha, age 71, of White Oak, died on February 17, 2024, at UPMC East Hospital. Born February 3, 1953, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Wray) Cooper and the wife of Duane Hreha.
Deborah's journey began at Mon Yough Catholic Girls School, where she nurtured her love for learning and graduated in 1971. She furthered her education at Penn State University, graduating in 1975, where she met her soulmate, Duane Hreha, who would become her devoted husband. After Penn State, Deborah went on to Carnegie Mellon University where she earned her Master of Science in Chemical Engineering. As an Analytical Chemist for the Department of Energy, Deborah displayed exceptional skill and passion for her work, earning the respect of her colleagues.
A woman of many talents and interests, Deborah was an active member of various organizations, including the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemists and Applied Spectroscopy, the Society of Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh, Mary, Mother of God Parish, and the Christian Mothers. She also cherished moments spent honing her creativity through cake decorating, crocheting, and crafting, bringing joy to her family and friends with her handmade creations.
Throughout her life, Deborah found joy in simple pleasures, from trips to Kennywood, Idlewood, and Rehoboth Beach to sharing special moments with grandchildren. Her dedication to her family, community, and passions will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Jessica (Adam) Nelson; grandsons, Theo and Jake; brothers, John Cooper and Michael (Cathy) Cooper; a sister-in-law, Jackie Deet; brothers-in-law, David (Mary Beth) Hreha and Frank Jr. (Gennie) Hreha. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Hreha; mother and father-in-law, Ina and Frank Hreha; niece, Michelle Deet; nephew, Christopher Cooper.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Mary, Mother of God Parish, St. Patrick Church at 10 a.m. The burial will follow at St. Mary Polish Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
