Sarah Yard Obituary
Sarah "Sally" Yard passed away on June 13, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher. The title she loved most was "Nana" to her two granddaughters.
Sarah was the oldest of four children born to Edward and Martha (Theis) Wasserman in Fremont, Ohio, on October 11, 1948. She attended St. Joseph High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Mary Manse College. She taught primary grades in both parochial and public schools for over 34 years. In retirement she did substitute teaching.
Sarah married her husband, David, in April of 1977 and they were married for 25 years before his passing in June of 2002.
Sarah is survived by her two loving children: son, Brian (Joy) and daughter, Ellen; granddaughters, Gabriella (Gabby) and Isabella (Izzy); sisters, Teresa Dover, Jane (Mike) Russell, and Christine Wasserman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Her family wishes to thank Richard Phinney, MD and staff at the Toledo Clinic Cancer Center; Hetty Carraway, MD at the Cleveland Clinic; and the nurses and staff at the Toledo Hospital Infusion Center. Also, special thanks to long-time friend Helen for her help these past several months and others who offered their support.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a blood donation to the Red Cross. Blood donations were a critical part of her care.
Per Sarah's request, visitation and services will be private. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements are being entrusted to Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 419-472-7633. www.ansberg-west.com

Brian, Ellen and family:
My condolences to all in your family. Sally and I taught together at St. Clement. We kept in touch even after I moved out here to Wa. State. I am glad she is finally at rest in heavenly peace. She had so much suffering.
She loved you all because you were always in our conversations.
My prayers and thoughts are with you as you deal with your loss. May God bless Sally and you.
