Saundra Rosenfeld Kaplan was born in 1940 and passed away September 3, 2025 in St. Augustine, FL. She was preceded by her beloved husband Alan, of 65 years.
A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Miami with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, she was licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and employed with Coopers & Lybrand before opening her own practice. Sandy became a most prominent CPA in Miami, Sandy and Alan's longtime home, and then on to Marco Island and North Carolina before her retirement.
Sandy was active in National, State, and Local professional Institutes of CPAs and earned lifetime honorary memberships in the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA).
Sandy and Alan spent most of their lives in Florida, eventually settling in North Carolina before returning to Florida and making their final home in St. Augustine 10 years ago.
Sandy served as Board Member and then Chair of the Immokalee Foundation in Naples, FL from 1996 to 2004, was a co-founder of the Naples and Marco Island Jewish Center, where she also served as a Board Member, then Treasurer and then President. She was a member of the Board of Trustees of Warren-Wilson College, and was an active volunteer with the American Association of University Women, and various other organizations.
She was a Guardian Ad Litem, Foster parent, and Past Legal Guardian to several children.
Saundra and Alan will best be remembered as philanthropists, creating educational foundations and donating generously, establishing scholarship programs for students in need with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Warren-Wilson College in North Carolina, University of Miami, Florida Gulf Coast University and St. Johns River State College.
They donated locally, including Habitat for Humanity, Community Hospice, and public television. They provided the funds for a butterfly garden as well as other projects in Cascades of World Golf Village, where they most recently lived, supported a local veteran's organization and made generous donations to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in St. Augustine other community organizations.
Sandy is survived by Don Del Bello, in her words, "the son they never had" as well as countless dear friends.
