Scott Bankhead Obituary

Scott Randall Bankhead, a cherished son, brother, uncle, coworker, and dear friend to so many, left us on October 6, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Scott will be truly missed, but his loved ones rejoice knowing he is now walking with Jesus and experiencing the 10,000-foot view of how God used him to make a difference.

Scott Randall Bankhead was born on November 5, 1991. Scott is survived by his loving parents, Randall and Mary Bankhead of Roscoe, Texas; his sister Laura Schuchard and her husband Chase of Roscoe, Texas; his nephews who he loved dearly, Troy and Ben Schuchard; and his grandmother, Wynona Bankhead, also of Roscoe, Texas, as well as numerous other extended family members.

Scott graduated from Highland High School before earning his degree in Management from Texas A&M University and a masters degree in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. This education prepared him for his dedicated eight-year career with Joni And Friends, a Christian disability ministry, which he served from both Agoura Hills, California, and remotely from Abilene, Texas. His compassion for those who were suffering shone brightly through his work, where he ministered to thousands of individuals. Throughout his career, Scott offered empathy, hope, and encouragement by writing over 12,000 letters to people in need, offering perspective and truth from God's Word.

Scott was a generous gift giver with both his time and resources. This was illustrated by his role as a deacon on the Care Team at the Well Church in Abilene. His church family has greatly ministered to Scott and his loved ones throughout his time in Abilene, especially during his most recent battle with cancer.

Scott's life was a profound reflection of his sincere love for Jesus and people. What an absolute privilege it has been to witness a life so beautifully lived in 33 years.

Funeral services for Scott will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in Abilene at The Well Church (137 Mesquite St., Abilene, TX).
