Scott Mapston, 60, of Apple Valley, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, June 20, 2024, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville.
James Scott Mapston was born in Minneapolis to James and Ruth (Phillips) Mapston on April 27, 1964. A true Minnesotan at heart, Scott graduated from Apple Valley High School in 1982 before continuing his education at Minnesota State University Mankato where he earned his degree in Business Administration. His professional life was marked by dedication and compassion, having worked as an assistant manager at Red Lobster in Rochester and later as a senior claims adjuster with Health Partners for more than two decades.
Scott's passion for life extended beyond his career. Whether he was fishing or hunting with his dad, watching the Twins with his mom, or playing on the softball field with his team, Mapston and Company, his love for these moments was evident to all. Scott's friendly demeanor, kindness, and funny wit made him a beloved figure both on and off the field.
He is survived by his brother, Ron (Denise) of Morristown; sister, Kaylin (Chuck) Kroll of Brooklyn Park; daughter, Alicia Pedrie of Illinois; step-daughter, Erin Fischer of Big Fork, MT; ex-wife, Darla Julian of Farmington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Buckets of Love in Missoula, MT, https://www.bucketsoflove.net/ or Minnesota Adult Teen Challenge, https://www.mntc.org/.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, July 8, 2024 at Berean Baptist Church in Burnsville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and a reception will follow. Interment will be in Pleasantview Memorial Gardens in Burnsville.
