Scott E. Schwankl, 52, a resident of Round Lake Beach, IL, passed away May 18, 2023 at his home. He was born December 27, 1970 in Libertyville, IL to Victor and Connie Schwankl.
Scott grew up in Grayslake, IL with his family and graduated from Grayslake Central High School and later received his Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University. Scott always held a special spark and loved meeting new people and making them laugh. Anyone that met Scott typically became a good friend in just a matter of minutes. Scott loved being with his family, especially spending time on Spanaway Lake in Washington. He also enjoyed playing golf and going hunting with his lifelong school friends. Scott was proud of his work and the influence he had in the Special Events Industry with over 30-years of service. However, Scott was most proud of his daughters and watching them reach their goals and accomplishments. To know Scott is to love Scott and he will be missed by many. Scott will forever be in our hearts.
Scott is survived by his former wife, Lynn Conway, and their daughters Abby and Jillian Schwankl and his brothers James (Shirley) Schwankl and Richard (Jim) Schwankl. Beloved Uncle of Melanie, Erika, Kassie (Josh), Katie (Emma), and Emily. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Vickie Schwankl and his brother Mark Schwankl.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Save-A-Pet where Scott's furry best friend Jax, came from. All funeral arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel & Crematorium 410 E. Belvidere Rd. Grayslake, IL 60030. Hi, I am the neighbor directly to the south of his house. Ever since I moved in he was always friendly and smiling and we had some funny conversations. I brought him a Thanksgiving dinner during the pandemic and he brought me a big dinner during my 9 month of pregnancy. My husband and our other neighbor John, they all worked together to remove snow and mow grass. He had a gigantic heart and a great soul. My condolences to his daughters, I lost my dad tragically and I know how hard this can be and trust me. Time and understanding that grief takes time. Everything will come together as you get a chance to understand that grief takes so much time and energy. Your dad has been given the best life ever now in heaven, watching and listening and laughing with you. He will forever be watching. He´s not gone he´s just watching over you now. Continue to talk to him and tell him how much you love him. He´s listening.....
If you need anything we are right next door and both of us have lost our fathers so it´s not anything we can not help you with in this process.
Our door and hands and hearts are always open for you and your family.
Stay strong, he loves you so much! very deeply and always!!!
