Sean W. McGonagle of Marshfield passed away on January 16, 2024. He was the cherished son of the late John "Jay" and Beverly A. (Austin) McGonagle and loving brother of Catherine Lennox "Twiggy" and her husband Robert and Patrick McGonagle and his wife Lea-Ann. He was the dear uncle of CJ, Theresa and Devon Lennox and Timothy, Seamus and Declan McGonagle and nephew of Elaine Simonelli. He will be dearly missed by his best friend, Auggie.
Sean was born in Boston then moved to Marshfield and graduated from Marshfield High School, class of 1984. He began working for the MWRA at a young age and continued working there presently as a wastewater operator.
Sean was a life member of the Marshfield Yacht Club, where he enjoyed boating and hanging with his friends. He was well known locally and within the Irish music circle to pick up a mic and join in singing. He loved music and had a great voice.
Sean loved his dog Auggie and was never without him. He often would lend a hand to those in need and enjoyed his role as an elf every year at the Christmas Yacht Club party. Sean had a gift to gab. He would often call friends and family just to chat and enjoyed hanging out at Dockside Donuts.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Christine Parish Church, 1295 Main Street in Marshfield.
