Selwin J. Carson

Selwin Jerome Carson was born on January 3,1963 to Ann Powe and the late Curtis Carson, Sr. in Mobile, AL. He was called home on July 9th, 2025. He worked for the Mobile City Public Works Department for many years. Known as "King Carson" he had a spark of light that drew people to him. His bigger-than-life personality impacted everybody that crossed his path. Whether you were family, friend or stranger he always offered a helping hand. He had a great passion for racing, working on cars and throwing a great party. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, confidant and mentor. He is loved and greatly missed.
Selwin is preceded in death by: father, Arthur Lee Houston; grandmother, Lillie Mae Harris; brothers: Sgt. Cornell Houston and Kirk Houston and daughter, Selwondra Pugh.
He is survived by his loving wife, Valerie Carson; daughters: Iisha Jones, Candace N'Diaye, Crystal Abram; son, Michael Bolton; nineteen grandchildren; mother, Ann Powe; brothers: Curtis Carson, Jr., Artis (Laverne) Houston, Ralph Houston, Phillip Davis; sisters: Crystal Carson, Tara Carson, Veronica McGhee Taylor, Kathryn Davis, Brianna Carson, Carmen Houston Reed; sisters-in-law: Carmen Houston and Krissy Houston; a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and other friends.
