Seth Kent Saito Weaver, a man of great curiosity, deep intellect, and love for family, died unexpectedly on February 6, 2025. He was 51.
Born on January 2, 1974, in Massachusetts, Seth was raised in Woodstock, Connecticut, where he cultivated his lifelong love of learning. A graduate of Woodstock Academy (1992) and Muhlenberg College (1996), he pursued a dual major in philosophy and English. His time in the Czech Republic and then as a speechwriter during college further shaped his ability to distill thought into words.
After a brief stint in New York City, Seth returned to Woodstock to teach at the Hyde School before studying law at George Mason University. Never one to take the conventional path, he spent his summers clerking in American Samoa and Hawaii. He graduated with his J.D. in 2004 and made Honolulu, Hawaii home.
In 2010, Seth met Tricia Saito, the great love of his life. Tricia inspired Seth to make another bold professional pivot-he returned to school to become a nurse. In nursing, he found a vocation that merged his intellectual precision with his innate kindness and love of talking story. He relished the chance to connect with people, to offer care not just in words but in action.
Fatherhood was perhaps his greatest joy. In 2019, Seth and Tricia welcomed their son, Dash. He took to parenting with the same thoughtful enthusiasm he brought to every endeavor-introducing Dash to the rolling beauty of New England, good books and games of catch. He reveled in the small moments: bike rides, soccer drills, the simple pleasure of sharing a favorite childhood story.
Throughout his life, Seth wrote-speeches, stories, to-do lists, poetry. He wrote to understand, to reflect, to remember. And through his writing, a part of him remains. Seth made friends where ever he was - at the gym, at work, in line for groceries.
He is survived by his wife, Tricia Saito Weaver; their son, Dash; his parents, Mary and P. Kent Weaver; his sisters, Seana and Jessica Weaver; his brother-in-law, David Boose; and a constellation of nieces, cousins, and friends whose lives he touched indelibly.
Seth Weaver's presence will be profoundly missed, but his love-steadfast and deeply felt-endures.
There will be a celebration of Seth's life in his childhood hometown Woodstock, CT on July 5th at Taylor Brooke Winery.
