Shani LaNette Slayter Fallis, age 50, of Winnfield Louisiana, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
Shani was born on March 11, 1974, to Michael Ray Paddie and the late Barbara Nell Hughes Slayter. She is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Hughes Slayter; maternal grandparents, Eunice Kerry, John Kerry, and Roy Hughes; paternal grandparents, Albert and Irene Slayter, Dale and Leona Tullis; and stepson, Douglas Thompson Jr.
Shani is a 1992 graduate of Grant High School in Dry Prong, Louisiana, and a 2005 graduate of Huey P. Long Vocational School where she received her LPN license. After becoming an LPN, she worked at Woodlands Behavior Center, Parkview, and as a private caretaker. She had a passion for the arts, including crocheting, painting, and all sorts of crafts. Anyone who knew Shani knew that she loved any and all kinds of music, especially music that she could two-step to. Shani was a huge fan of sports, both supporting her daughter's Alumni, LSU, as well as her son, nieces, and nephews sporting events in their respective sports and schools.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Billie Thompson of Baton Rouge and Brady Fallis of Winnfield; father, Michael Paddie (Cindy) of Verda; two siblings, Kimberly Bruce Futrell (George), Brandon Slayter (Jennifer); nieces and nephews Megan Glenn (Chris), Dylan Bruce (Meagan), Savannah Carr (Shawn), Braxton Slayter, and Carlie Rhea Slayter; great-nieces and nephews, Peyton, Shaina (Austin), C.J., Jaxon, and Grayson, as well as a great great-niece, Adrianna. She also leaves behind numerous family and friends, including her former spouse Duane Fallis.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 5PM to 9PM, and again on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 9AM until the time of service.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Monday, September 23, 2024, in the Chapel of Southern Funeral Home,
Winnfield, Louisiana, with Rev. Kenny Bratton and Rev. Richard "Dick" Debusk. Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Cemetery in Saline, Louisiana, under the direction of Southern Funeral Homes.
Those honored to serve the family as pallbearers are Brady Fallis, Braxton Slayter, Peyton Glenn, Dylan Bruce, Chris Kerry, Danny Slayter, Gregg Coleman, and Robert Foster. Honorary pallbearers are Brian Glenn, George Futrell, Chris Robertson, and Austin Butts.
