Shanteez Laqueya Towns, age 46, of Macon, GA, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025.
She was the beloved wife of Jovon Steven Towns for 27 years and a cherished mother to Jhaylona Towns, Jovon Towns II, and stepdaughter, Akiria Walker. Shanteez was born on March 18, 1979, in Macon, GA, to Sonja Moss and Robert Fountain.
A 1997 graduate of Central High School, she dedicated over 15 years of service to Bibb County, first with the communications team at City Hall and later as the Office Manager at Lake Tobesofkee. Shanteez was an incredible person loved by all. With her beautifully kind spirit, she could walk into any room and instantly become the center of attention. She was a proud "diva" who had a passion for singing, high-end fashion, and makeup. Beyond her style, her true essence was a deep and genuine care for others, particularly children. She would never hesitate to play jump rope or flip on a trampoline with them, even while dressed in her finest clothes.
Shanteez will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her sweet and generous spirit, and her unwavering kindness. Her greatest delights were watching black and white movies, trying on new outfits, and sharing wine with her cherished friends and family.
Shanteez is survived by her devoted husband, Jovon Steven Towns, who will love her "always and forever for eternity." She also leaves behind her cherished children, Jhaylona Towns and Jovon Towns II; her stepdaughter, Akiria Walker; her siblings, Damon Hollingsworth (Angela), Denita Johnson (Charlie), Vonshedia Stubbs (James), Vichelle Stubbs, Antowanna Fountain, Robert Fountain Jr., and Kwiesi Fountain; devoted nieces, Tahmonie Stubbs, and Alesia Hall; devoted cousins, Shaketta Jackson, and Cameron Moss; and many more loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Lee Stubbs; and her grandmothers, Ethel Lee Stubbs, Alma Jean Taylor, and Syella Fountain.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Macon Terminal Station. At the family's request, please wear formal attire in honor of Shanteez.
