Sharan Ann Benton

What an amazing life it has been! I was born April 24, 1944 to Francis Reilly and Marie Justice Benton. My two brothers, Francis and Joseph Benton have died and gone before me as well as my sister-in-law, Carolyn Benton, my nephews John, Pat, and Stephan Benton, and my niece Theresa Benton.
I have lived in Fincastle most of my life and I want to thank many of the family and friends who have walked through my life. My education at Holy Family School, Presentation Academy, Nazareth College, and my master's degrees began my life of ministry as a Sister of Charity of Nazareth for eighteen years. My ministry in the church continued at Sister Visitor, St. Cecilia and St. Lawrence churches, and as pastoral administrator at St. William Church for twenty-three years. What a great community to walk my journey of faith with! I was honored to be a founding board member of House of Ruth, helping families with AIDS. It was such a gift to be a baby whisperer at St. William and Norton Children's Hospital. Many thanks to all of the family and friends who have loved and cared for me all of my life.
My visitation will be 2:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 25th at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Rd. A celebration of my life will take place at St. William Church 1226 West Oak Street on Saturday, May 27th at 10:00 AM with a visiting hour at 9:00 AM. My ashes will be buried with my parents at St. Michael Cemetery 1300 Ellison Avenue immediately following Mass.
