Sharon Kay Alden, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on October 15, 1944, in Owosso, Michigan, to the late Keith and Marjorie Devoe, Sharon's life was marked by her creative spirit and sense of humor.
Growing up on Myers Lake in Byron, Sharon developed a lifelong love for the outdoors. Her childhood was filled with fond memories of swimming and fishing, a tradition she carried into her later years. After graduating from Byron High School, Sharon furthered her education at Lansing Community College, setting the stage for her career.
Sharon retired in 1997 after 35 years of service to the State of Michigan, where she worked for the Michigan State Police, Secretary of State, and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
In her retirement, Sharon focused more on her passions. She found joy in making jewelry and engaging in various crafts with her friends. Her artistic talents were a source of pleasure not only for her but also for those fortunate enough to receive one of her handmade creations. Sharon loved collecting Steiff Bears, unique house plants, and any whimsical decorations resembling frogs.
An avid sports fan, Sharon's enthusiasm for the Detroit Lions, the Red Wings, and the MSU Spartans was contagious. She enjoyed the excitement of the game and watched any chance she could get. Her love for animals was equally profound, and she shared her home with many pets over the years.
Sharon's legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her daughter, Jaime (Mike) Nauta; stepson, Jack (Ashley) Alden; stepdaughter, Kaona Martell; grandchildren, Claire, Ellie, Jorja, Anika, and Aiden; and her brother, Jim Devoe. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Sharon was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Thomas Bizoe, her second husband, Jon Alden, and her brother Lloyd Devoe.
Sharon will be fondly remembered for her remarkable independence, spontaneity, and carefree spirit. Her ability to embrace life with such freedom and joy left a lasting impact on those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A private memorial service will be held by her family.
The family requests that donations in Sharon's name be directed to Careline Hospice or the Shiawassee County Humane Society.
Sharon and her family are being cared for by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Owosso Chapel.
