Sharon Elizabeth Allen Doucet, 72, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, April 3, 2023, at ECU Medical Center, with family members by her side.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday at 4:00 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. The family will greet friends following the service.
Sharon was born in upstate New York, attended the Eastman School of Music, and taught piano. She was an ECU Alumni where she majored in Mathematics. She received her Master's Degree from ECU; and taught at ECU and numerous high schools. Sharon was a free spirit who loved traveling, and time spent at family gatherings. She was a member of the Pitt County Council on Aging, and enjoyed spending time at the Pitt County Senior Center. Her most recent interest was playing and teaching chess at the Family Chess Club. Sharon was a lady of many hats who loved her cats and helping her neighbors.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Paul Allen. She is survived by her daughter, Michele Shaver and husband, George; son, Ted Brennessel; granddaughter, Jennifer Whitaker and husband, Alex; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; first husband, Carl Brennessel and wife Kathy; and brothers, Robert Allen, and Christopher Allen.
Memorial donations may be made to the Pitt County Senior Center, 4551 County Home Road, Greenville, NC 27858; or the Family Chess Club, Attn: Steven Smith or Jerry Skinner, 650 E. Firetower Road, Suite B, Winterville, NC 28590.
