Sharon L. Ashenbrenner, age 75, of Menasha, and currently residing at the Courtyard in Oshkosh, passed away Monday, July 8, 2024 at Mercy Hospital with family by her side. She was born on July 31, 1948 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Melvin and Elizabeth (Wenninger) Bohlman. Sharon was a 1966 graduate of St. Mary's Springs High School and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1970 with her degree in education. On March 25, 1977 she married the love of her life, John U. Ashenbrenner, in Menasha. Sharon worked in the Neenah School District as a teacher, spending most of her time as a 7th grade math teacher at Shattuck and Horace Mann Middle Schools. She worked there until her retirement in 2004. Sharon had a great group of friends surrounding her. She loved going out to dinner with friends, shopping, and playing bingo/card games with her family and with her friends at the Courtyard. Sharon was quite the fashionista and had the perfect outfit for every event. While you could say she was a quiet person, her sense of humor was anything but. Her white elephant gifts at family Christmas always brought the biggest laughs. She spent many years in bowling leagues and golf leagues with her husband and friends. She had a deep love for her entire family, especially her grandkids. She loved watching them play sports and showering them with gifts.
SURVIVORS: 2 daughters, Sandra (Mark Schultz) Ashenbrenner, Debra (Ben) Heinen; 3 grandchildren, JT Schultz, Kinsley and Aubrey Heinen, sisters Diane (fiance Tom Rieder) Palecek, Mary Beth Race, sister-in-law Margaret Krysiak, many nephews, and granddogs Wrigley and Snickers. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Daniel Bohlman, brother-in-law Dan Palecek, sister-in-law Nancy Frey, brother-in-law Herman Frey, and brother-in-law James Race.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Tuesday, July 16 anytime from 4-7 p.m. at Bridgewood Conference Center 1000 Cameron Way, Neenah, WI 54956.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Courtyard and Mercy Medical Center for their compassion and loving care for Sharon. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in Sharon's name.
