Sharon Irene Elizabeth Miller, passed away peacefully Monday, July 14, 2025, at her home in Garden City SC with her loving family by her side.
Born June 4, 1943, in Charleroi PA, Mrs. Miller was daughter of the late Walter and Margaret Altman. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Edward Miller, sisters Theresa Salmon, Barbara Griffin, and brother Oscar Altman.
Sharon, the oldest of her five siblings, was raised mostly in Hyde Park, NY on her family's poultry farm. This is where her incredible love of ALL animals began. She had her own horse; "Sun Blaze" and spoke about him often, even till the very end.
She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park and attended Vassar Business School.
In the early 1960's her family relocated to Crugers, NY, now (Croton-on-Hudson), where she met the love of her life, Robert Edward Miller.
Robert and Sharon aka Jivey and Hon, respectively were married March 14, 1964, and later that year welcomed their first child, a daughter Robin, and later two sons, Robert Jr, and Michael.
Sharon and her husband stayed in Croton where they raised their family on a farm type property as well, smartly giving their children a chance to enjoy the true beauties and wonders of nature as they grew.
In the mid 80's Sharon's life went in a new direction as she became an Executive Secretary in the advertising world. Throughout the 80's and 90's you could find Sharon in many places around the world, such as Mexico City, London, Honolulu, Rome, Las Vegas, Istanbul, Bethlehem, and Vatican City, the latter two being her favorite. She was a child of God for sure, with a wandering spirit.
Sharon was an elegant lady; she always looked beautiful. She was just as comfortable in jeans, t-shirt working in her beloved gardens dirty from head to toe. This is where she was happiest.
She was also a life member of Ladies Auxiliary of Montrose Fire Department.
In the fall of 2002 Sharon, her husband and son Robert moved to South Carolina. They truly enjoyed their new Southern lifestyle. Eventually all of their children moved to the Grand Strand.
She enjoyed the rest of her years living on "her" lake in Garden City.
She will be missed so much.
Surviving is her daughter Robin Scott of Carolina Forest SC, her son Robert Jr. and his partner Brook Piland of Garden City SC, and son Michael and his wife Sue of Murrells Inlet SC, two grandsons; Conrad Scott, and Michael Miller Jr. and Great grandson; Matthew Shott. Also loving sister Gale McGuire of Conway SC, and brother Walter Altman of Colorado, former daughter in law Doreen Miller, and best friend of over 60 years; Toby (Midge) Cole. Sharon adored her rescue dog Bella, and two cats Sophie and Gypsy, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the wonderful caring amazing angels at Traditions Hospice, esp. Lori, Amber, Carolina, Michelle, Wanda, Dr Pugh, Dr McCutcheon, Reverend Kimble Knight and many friends and neighbors.
The family will have a memorial service at her home by the lake in Garden City, on July 25, 2025, at 12:00pm with interment at Saint Michael's Church columbarium at 1:00pm. There will also be a gathering at Graham's Landing in Murrells Inlet to follow.
