Sharon Kaye Engle, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 31, 2025, after a courageous battle with leukemia. She was 83 years old.
Born on August 24, 1941, in Hutchinson, Kansas, Sharon was the daughter of Leonard and Vada
McFerrin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, and her daughters Kathy Lydon and
Tamie Engle. Sharon is survived by her loving husband of many years, Jerry Engle; daughter,
Sheryl Lydon; son Mike Lydon (Tammy Tompkins); bonus children Angela Deshon (Joe) and Mark Engle (Julie); Todd Engle (Karla), Chris Engle (Tina); as well as numerous grandchildren and a great-grandchildren.
Sharon was a multi-talented individual who touched many lives. As an artist, she was deeply involved in the Wichita art community and was an active participant in local art guilds. Sharon was also a dedicated professional who worked as a paralegal for many years before becoming an Associate Broker. She retired from Berkshire Hathaway PenFed Realty just last year.
Beyond her career, Sharon's passions were evident in her love of painting and gardening, hobbies that brought her much joy throughout her life. Sharon was also deeply committed to her community, serving as an active member of her local HOA. As a proud breast cancer survivor, Sharon dedicated many years to volunteering with Victory in the Valley, helping others through their own battles. Her family and friends will remember Sharon for her wisdom, wit and determination. Sharon's memory will live on through her family, her art, and the countless lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 324 N. Baltimore Ave, Derby, KS 67037. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Victory in the Valley.
