Sharon Kendall Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Durfee Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Fair Haven on Oct. 1, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Sharon Kendall. What she taught us will remain with us for the rest of our days. She will live on in the good that her friends and family will continue to do to make the world a better place.
Sharon was born February 9, 1951, the daughter of Charles and Bessie (Matteson) Woodbury. She was raised in Castleton, attended Castleton schools and graduated from Fair Haven Union High School with the class of 1969. While in high school she started working at the Ethan Allen Bank. She spent nearly fifty years working at various banks, taking each acquisition and changeover in stride. She loved her customers and regarded many of them as friends. When her children were young and involved in their school activities Sharon spent several years working for Direct Communications. This allowed her the flexibility she needed to be present at all of her kid's games and activities, something they still do not know how she was able to accomplish. Sharon worked at Carl Durfee's Store for many years helping Mary as needed, and most recently was employed at Donna Johnson Physical Therapy where she loved being able to interact with people on a personal level. Sharon was active in her community and always willing to give back and help as needed. She did this quietly and without fanfare. She was instrumental in helping the Castleton Community Seniors become what it is today. She took pride in helping the area seniors have a community space of their own. She was also passionate about Slate Valley Cares, fka Fair Haven Concerned. She was pivotal in their ability to help those who needed it most.
On October 18, 1969 she married her best friend Bruce. Together they made their home in Fair Haven for almost 56 years where they raised two children, Jennie and Bradley. Sharon's greatest joy was following her grandchildren at their many sporting events. There were not many she missed and loved nothing more than watching them do what they love. The grandchildren always joked about who would be on her phone's homescreen most often. Sharon is survived by her husband Bruce, daughter Jennie and her partner Curt, son Bradley and his wife Corey. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Evan, Timothy, Levi, Adyn, Joseph and Brody. She is also survived by her sisters Deb and Kathy, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Sharon was predeceased by her mother and father, her sister Maggie, and her brothers Woody, Bernie and Fred.
There will not be any calling hours or formal services at Sharon's request. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday August 10th at her and Bruce's home in Fair Haven from 1-4pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the Fair Haven Rescue Squad
