Sharon Kay Mackey

Sharon Kay Mackey, 82, of Albuquerque, NM, and Columbus, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. She passed away peacefully with family at her side. She was born on November 27, 1943, in Wichita, KS, a daughter to Charles and Winifred.

Sharon was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, sister, cousin, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She delighted in spending time with family and friends and making holidays fun and happy for everyone. Her home was welcoming, and hosting family gatherings, cooking, and playing games were very special to her. She lived many years in Albuquerque, and in 2015, she moved to Ohio to spend time with more of her family and make memories together.

Camping, gardening, singing in the choir at church, being involved in the community, building things, and doing hands-on home improvements were all things that Sharon enjoyed. She kept many family photos, enjoyed scrapbooking, and creating photo albums of her family and fun times shared over the years. She didn't like flying, but she was adventurous and independent, and taking road trips or riding the train across the country to stay connected with her loved ones was very important to her and made her happy.

In her retirement years, she enjoyed cheering at her grandchildren's sporting events, reading, and going to the book club at the library. She also had fun spending time with others around her age and getting some exercise playing chair volleyball at the senior center.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by her husband, Sam, and her sister, Karen. She is survived by her brother, Charles (wife, Gwen), her 4 children and their spouses; Glenda (husband, Jim), Julie, Doug (wife, Patti), and Jennifer (husband, Doug); 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and her niece and nephew, who will all miss her funny sense of humor, and warm and loving nature.

The family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Grace Fellowship – The Chapel, 575 Diley Rd, Pickerington, OH 43147. Arrangements by DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME 650. W. Waterloo St, Canal Winchester, OH 43110.
