Sharon Lee Shafii

Sharon Lee Shafii, 84, died peacefully holding hands with family, in Seattle, WA on Tuesday August 19, 2025. Born September 19, 1940, in Grand Rapids, MI to Arie and Dorothy Van Daalen, Sharon excelled in academics and athletics. Sharon earned her RN, BSN from the University of Michigan (UM) and worked at UM Children's Psychiatric Hospital, where she met her husband Dr. Mohammad Shafii. In 1974 they settled in Louisville, KY their home until Sharon relocated to Seattle, WA in 2022. Sharon maintained her nursing license throughout her life and, with her husband, co-authored numerous medical textbooks. She was a published haiku poet and became a competitive ballroom dancer in her 70s. She is predeceased by her husband, Mohammad and Dorah, her granddog. She is survived by her daughters, Jaleh and Taraneh Shafii; her grandchildren, Liam Arie Kreiss and Mitra Alyce Shafii, and extended family. The family expresses deep gratitude to the dedicated and loving caregivers who cared for Sharon during the last two years of her life.
